A New Era of Anti-Scam Engagement: Whoscall Revamped to Build a Community-Driven Scam Prevention Network

To make anti-scam efforts more accessible and engaging in everyday life, Whoscall launched a major app revamp in September featuring a new brand identity, the letter “W” shaped like two hands raised, symbolizing the collective strength of community action against scams.

In October, Whoscall also rolled out a brand-new “Mission Board” feature centered on user participation and rewards. Users who update to the latest version can earn Whoscall Points by checking in daily, which can be redeemed for Whoscall Premium subscriptions, digital gift vouchers, and exclusive prizes.

Future updates will introduce more engagement tasks,  such as inviting friends to download Whoscall, completing anti-scam quizzes, and sharing scam alerts — creating a community-based reward ecosystem that fosters daily interaction, builds user loyalty, and strengthens public awareness against scam. The goal is to help users make scam prevention a daily habit by using Whoscall to verify unknown calls, links, and images.

From Caller ID to Comprehensive Scam Defense

Originally built as a caller identification tool, Whoscall is now used by one in two people in Taiwan, and continues to move toward the milestone of 10 million users. Since its first Google Play Best App win in 2013, Whoscall has continuously evolved beyond call identification. 

In recent years, Whoscall has continuously evolved through multiple product upgrades, transforming far beyond a simple caller identification tool. One of its key innovations, Auto Web Checker, proactively alerts users when they accidentally visit phishing or spoofed websites. As scams increasingly spread across diverse digital channels, Whoscall also introduced the Check feature, enabling users to upload screenshots or images to assess the potential scam risks contained within. Together, these advancements provide users with a comprehensive, all-around protection against scam.
