Gogolook Teams Up with Strategic Partners Pos Malaysia and PDRM to Combat Parcel Scams

Gogolook and Pos Malaysia signs MoU, witnessed by PDRM as part of #ScamFreeMalaysia initiative

Gogolook and Pos Malaysia Berhad (“Pos Malaysia”) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as part of the #ScamFreeMalaysia initiative. This proactive collaboration involves Whoscall, a leading anti-scam application powered by Gogolook, registering all operational numbers from Pos Malaysia, including those used by postmen, as ‘verified numbers’. As a result, Whoscall users can trust incoming calls and SMS from Pos Malaysia, safeguarding Malaysians against the increasing threat of parcel scams.

The MoU was signed by Manwoo Joo, Chief Operating Officer of Gogolook and Hj. Zaini Yahman, Director of Operations, Pos Malaysia witnessed by CP Dato’ Sri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf, Director of Bukit Aman Commercial Criminal Investigation Department (CCID). Besides the number verification, the MoU also outlines a partnership between Pos Malaysia and Whoscall to launch a Parcel Scam Awareness Campaign, which will include an extensive nationwide roadshow to educate the public about parcel scams.

Commenting on the collaboration, CP Dato’s Sri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf, Director of CCID said, “We commend the efforts of Pos Malaysia and Whoscall for this proactive step in combating online scams, especially those involving phone scams. The #ScamFreeMalaysia initiative is a testament to our collective efforts in fighting online crimes and protecting the public. The collaboration between Pos Malaysia and Whoscall represents a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat online scams, including phone scams in our country”.

“For the record, from 2021 to 2023, a total of 8,011 phone scam cases were investigated, involving losses of RM440,971,870.50. Of these, 448 cases were related to impersonation of Pos Laju officials, with a loss value of RM27,186,773.82. In the year 2024, up until July, a total of 1,411 phone scam cases have been investigated, with a loss value of RM64,468,952.59. Of these, 87 cases were related to impersonation of Pos Laju officers, with a loss value of RM2,999,714.42. These figures clearly indicate that phone scams require serious attention. Therefore, it is important that we leverage technology to protect the public in the ever-evolving cyber environment. The PDRM will always be ready to cooperate with all stakeholders in safeguarding Malaysians from all types of fraud,” he added.

Hj. Zaini Yahman, Director of Operations, Pos Malaysia said, “We are pleased to share Pos Malaysia’s collaboration with the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID), the Royal Malaysian Police Headquarters (PDRM) and Whoscall on a nationwide anti-scam awareness campaign. This initiative builds upon our successful pilot program in Perak and represents a significant step forward in our commitment to customer safety and service excellence. Furthermore, we are proud of being the first local parcel company to partner with Whoscall in implementing the “verified number” tagging service. This innovative solution will allow us to verify over 6,600 operational phone numbers used by our teams, eliminating uncertainty, and building trust with our customers. These efforts align perfectly with our purpose at Pos Malaysia: to build trust, connect lives and businesses for a better tomorrow. By proactively addressing the issue of parcel scams, we’re not only protecting our customers but also enhancing our reputation as a secure and reliable service provider.”

“This collaboration where we incorporate Pos Malaysia’s postmen’s phone numbers into our database adds another layer of Whoscall protection for all our Malaysian users. With the shared database combined with our world class anti-scam app, Whoscall will be able to protect Malaysians better and give them peace of mind against all sorts of online scams, including parcel scams. Our technology will serve as a frontline defense against scams, helping to build a more secure environment for all Malaysians,” shared Manwoo Joo, Chief Operating Officer of Gogolook.

Whoscall is the only trusted anti-scam app approved by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and recently appointed by CyberSecurity Malaysia as their Anti-Scam strategic partner. Expanding beyond just calls and text messages, Whoscall has introduced its latest feature, Auto Web Checker, in Malaysia. This new tool provides real-time warnings when users accidentally visit scam websites, helping to prevent personal data leakage and account theft.
